Keep the steel fork. Unless you're bike is aluminum, carbon doesn't really offer any comfort advantage. Yes, they do smooth out road vibration quite a bit better than aluminum, but not steel to any noticable degree.

My steel Surly and my 20 year old steel fixie are both equally as comfortable. The Surly has a carbon fork, the fixie does not.
