Exactly. I just helped my GF pick out a Trek 1000 non-WSD. She is fairly tall, 5'9'', and the womens bikes just didn't work well for here. She needed a longer top tube. However, she LOVED the saddle from the WSD. The bike store swapped the saddle to a regular 1000 and she loves it. One thing you might also want to look at if you go non-WSD is the handle bar width. She has had some pain in the shoulder back area and I think the bar is a little too wide. I'm not sure there is a difference but it would be worth asking, here or in the store.
