YAY!
I have been off bikes and exercise for the most part for around 3 years now(re aggrivated some back problems at bmx practice..). I bought a felt 90 56cm 2005 10 days ago and after todays commute have almost 160 miles.
My commutes are a bit over 15 miles each way. Today was my 4th day. There was a thick wet fog wet roads and light traffic, air was clean and fresh off of the Humboldt Bay. After my first mile i am merging onto 101 and i see a woman roadie go by while i wait for a chance to get across the Deadly indianola cutoff. I get across and shes maybe 1/4+ mile ahead of me. I packed my messenger bag a little lighter today(no microbiology book of lead) and am fresh(in my first few miles) so i think i can catch her, i get into the drops and to my surprise am pulling about 22-24mph.. i havnt been riding that unless have downhill or tailwind so i try to calm down and keep it above 18. I halve the distance, get on the horns and relax. Make the catch .. watch traffic.. room to pass...click 2 gears stand for a few spins.. bye bye. fun stuff.. i cant wait to get back into better shape. and, maybe a softer seat lol. no back pain amazingly... butt is ouch
