I regularly say it to the guy I buy falafels from on bloor (he loves it) and I always greet/say goodbye to him as salumu alaykum/wa alaykum as salam. Muslim law forbids him to give me a full greeting in return (I'm an infidel after all) so he'll usually respond with various parts of the greeting. He will always rock the takbir back to me though.
yo shiz...thats BS he should give you the full greeting back...no infidel would give the greeting thats the point...I was taught if someone says it they part 'a the team...nah I mean?
