Bikes: Trek Portland & Trek 830 Antelope Mountain bike (with slicks) circa 1991

Tips for Second Bike

I have been waiting for my new bike since July (Specialized 2007s have been waaaayyy delayed....TriCross Comp in particular). I understand they will be in either this week or next. I will not be getting rid of my old bike because I have learned all too well that if you have one bike and it needs repairs my bike commuting gets shot. I had planned to ride my old bike (Trek 830 converted with road slicks) in bad weather because it's a sturdier/heavier frame, has wider tires, and at this point any extra usefulness I get out of it is icing on the cake. But with two bikes I will need to get some extra gear. I'd really like to just get an extra mounting bracket for my bike computer but I don't know how to do that without buying a whole new bike computer. I assume they sell just the mounting piece and the sensor because the computer has a two bike memory for settings. Do they just expect you to take off the mounting piece and the sensor and switch them between the bikes each time? That would be a hassle.

Ok...I'm sure there are a lot of other tips and advice you guys can offer about having two commuters that I'm not even thinking about so feel free to chime in. Thanks.
