Motorists tend to notice me better with the flashing light than without. Plus, it is a backup light, albeit a crappy one. Still better than nothing being that my primary light is awaiting a new charger.
I think this is the best combination - particularly in areas with lots of other lights about. The flasher gets their attention but it is very hard to judge speed and distance with a flasher only. The solid light helps them judge speed and distance.
