I'm glad the Times did they article & brought up some of the potential hazards. I just wish there was more of a positive bent. Bike commuters can't be anything but a plus for the city. It's quieter, takes up less space, doesn't pollute and makes for a healthier population.
I suspect the fact that cars bring in revenue for the city (parking, tickets, meters, tolls, etc.). Bikes don't bring in that kind of money. That will always be a factor in city planning.
