I solved a squeaky derailleur problem by squirting lube into the pulley bearings. It took me a while to find because I had only noticed the squeak in my lowest gear and during shifts. Sounds similar to your problem. After squirting a lot of wd-40 into the pulley bearings, the liquid returned red (from rust I assume).
