It is functional; but it could certainly use some improvements. Even the Brompton crazies--I write that lovingly--on Bromptontalk complain about a whole host of problems and suggest aftermarket means of correcting them.
In my humble opinion, the two big issues are:
(1) lack of adjustibility in the handlebar post
(2) gear range is too narrow
Related to (1) is an inability to obtain a more sporty riding position. Some daring tinkerers have addressed this by replacing their handlebar post with an open base and sticking in an adjustable quill stem.
