Or actually the police officer that pulled me over for not stopping at that stop sign ruined my day.
So, I work on campus at UC Davis. I don't live far from campus so I ride my bike to work every morning. I take a very common route that is heavily used by students that are going to school that goes right through downtown. Just as a description, Downtown Davis is basically a grid with a stop sign at every corner. Imagine having to clip and unclip at every block. So I usually don't unless there are cars at the intersection. I would stop for cars but just roll through if the coast is clear. So this morning I'm coming to work like i've been doing all summer. I get to the intersection of 3rd and E, glance over at where the local club woman's only ride meet at the oposite corner, observe that there are no cars for blocks, then roll through as i've done many times before. That's when the siren went blup blup and I'm being pulled over. I know I broke the law so I didn't fight it. Even gave the officer all my real information so this ticket is going to be valid. The thing that peaves me most is as I am being given this ticket, I'm standing there watching every other person on a bike do the same thing I did!!!!

I wouldn't be so mad if they would be consistent and ticket everyone or have the same policy throughout the year! But no, Not a cop in sight all summer and just because it's the beginning of the school year, they have to pull this stuff. In a month, they'll go back to not caring. That steams me...If you're going to enforce the law, do it year round and maybe people will change their behavior...don't just concentrate your efforts for only a few weeks and hope there won't be violation for the rest of the year. Ether ticket everyone or don't ticket anyone at all.
As for me, I'm going to walk away with my tail between my legs and switch to a different route to work with only stop lights instead of stop signs. I always stop for those.
