Yeah, at stop signs, I usually slow to a trackstand and then take off. Many times I am just shy of a complete stop but mostly I try to track stand for a second or two. Safest bet IMHO and you don't have to unclip.
Sorry to hear about your ticket though.
Just FYI, some states mandate that you have to unclip and have one foot on the ground at a stop sign or traffic light. I think that's complete BS, but I don't make the rules.
