I have been kicking around a lot of ideas. I like the Ventos, but I don't really know a lot about them and I want something that is going to be fairly bullet-proof. I have messed around with the idea of buying some Veloce or Centaur hubs and building them with some OP, DT RR1.1, or Velocity rims. They'll be more expensive, but it will give me something to do (I've done everything except build a wheel from scratch), and probably be bulletproof in the end.
I keep going back and forth on the Veloce group (06 vs 07). I really like the idea of the Ultra-Torque and the differential braking. The reduced shifting (2 cogs at a time) with the '07 won't bother me a bit because I never used the old setup. To top it off it looks like Total Cycling has the group for about the same price that a lot of places have the 06 group on clearance for....
....hmmm...how many parts can I hide at work.....
