The LBS pros that I've discussed this very topic with all swear by the Simple Green method, rag and then using either TriFlow or other quality lube on the chain. After reading the following mediocre review about Pedro's Ice Wax, I'd say "the jury's still out." 3.25 out of 5 isn't any rave review! Besides, who wants to re-apply the stuff after each ride?
