Congrats on your first century.

Mountain bike pedals work just fine. Though I do feel a bit more stable laterally when out of the saddle with my road pedals. If you want road pedals, the Shimano pedals and the Look Keo pedals seem to be popular among the people I've rode with, and I'm happy with my Look Keos.
