He asked what the best wheelset he could get for 300 was. Should he get formulas or something slightly more expensive. You said that the best wheelset would be price dependent and asked how much he wanted to spend. Someone pointed out he had already said 300. You said he couldn't get a sweet new wheelset for that and even used phils/deepvs would be 400+ maybe he should get some used ellipses.

The statement that he couldn't get a sweet wheelset for 300 is absurd. Phils and deepvs aren;t that much better then formulas and open pros. More bling but not much more function. Same goes for ellipses but at least they weight slightly less then manhole covers. New well built formula/open pros are going to be better then either of your options with dubious histories. People simply don't need phils or ellipses for riding around.
