If I remember correctly the inside rim width was 14 or 15 mm, which should easily fit 28's and may be fine for 32's. I tend toward lighter touring and end up going with sturdy road bikes rather than purpose built tourers. So I usually run into tire clearance issues at around 28. My lightest tourer (lemond buenos..853) uses aeroheads (rear: Off-Center 32 spoke, 3X, Ultegra hub; front: 28 spoke, 2X, Ultegra) with conti gatorskin 25's (recently replaced from cheaper 27's). I consider ideal to be 36 spoke with 28's for the kind of light touring I do (annual WI trip of ~650 mi is typically my biggest trip; hotels, support vans).
