I also wouldn't consider Sheldon Brown an expert on racing. Personally, I found the stuff Davis Phinney has written to be helpful, and he is an expert on getting around a corner, particularly the last one before the finish line in the several hundred crits he won. I'd believe most anything that Sheldon Brown has to say about bike mechanics, but I'd look to people who raced sucessfully at a high level for bike handling advice.
