I have been really happy with my Mountain Hardware Cohesion Jacket. Light, breathable, zippered vents for plenty of air when needed. It's meant to be an external layer, so you can add warmth with other stuff underneith it. Wear a Tshirt under it on the warmer days, a hoody, down vest, and wool scarf when it's a bit nippy. Covers far enough below my belt that I don't get water up my ass, but it's short enough that it's not a pain to wear all day.

I know I just don't get it, but style isn't the main thing I'd look for in rain gear.
