I didn't look at a Kona when I bought my bike recently. I do have the '06 Coda Sport and it's a great bike. I'm pretty much riding all on pavement with the rare patch of packed dirt part to get onto a paved path. I like the 28mm tires. The steel frame rides well and there is the full complement of eyelets and braze-ons. Two water bottle cage mounts, double eyelets front/back for fenders and racks. I zip-tied my road morph mount to the bottom of the top tube so I could use both water bottle cages. The commute is more limited by traffic and lights and the bike handles well even when fully loaded with panniers.
I think one nice thing is that with the adjustable stem I can keep messing with it until I actually figure out what I like. Some people don't like the feature but I don't have a set way that I want the handlebars.
The longest ride I've been on is about 40 miles and it was quite pleasant on the Jamis.
