Tough decision, but I would go with the stumpy. The newer brain is better still than o6 stuff, and is still going to be less "bobby" than the blur on the flats despite the VPP platform. I also think it would be a better transition bike for someone like you who is moving up from a hardtail.
I faced a very similar problem a few months ago... and then I ended up just building a SC chameleon. Good luck.
