See two Canadian premieres about traffic problems and solutions in big
cities:
- "Contested Streets: Breaking New York City Gridlock"
(Denmark/France/USA/UK, 2006, 56min - Canadian premiere) - a film about
New York City street life prior to the introduction of the car and, a
century later, learning from London, Paris, and Copenhagen in reclaiming
our streets as vibrant public spaces.
- "A Conversation With Enrique Peņalosa" (USA, 2006, 12min - Canadian
premiere) - an interview with the mayor of Bogota about his dedication to
introducing bicycles and bicycle culture to his city
Following the films will be a panel discussion with Clarence Eckerson Jr
(Filmmaker, "A Conversation With Enrique Peņalosa"), Constance Exley
(Planners For Tomorrow) and other activists and thinkers about public
space and transportation.
