My first crash is a tragedy
I was riding from Round Rock to San Antonio, TX. When I was coming into San Marcos, I hit some loose gravel and just went down hard. My helmet hit first and I skid along the road for a bit. I was probably going ~20mph. But the crash isn't the sad part of the story.
I came up to an intersection that had no signs right before the crash. The road came to a T. I took a left, it didn't look to be the direction I wanted to go. I turned around and went back to the intersection. What did I see? A cute girl on a Trek. I asked her which way to go and she told me to take a right. I said thank you and thought that was the last I'd ever see of this woman.
I went down twenty seconds later. I'm going to say that I was just trying to impress her somehow with my speed going up the hill. As I slowly came down to kiss the pavement I heard her scream, "Oh my god!" She stopped and asked if I was okay. I drug my bike to the grass and she pulled off her water bottle and started rinsing off my hands. I told her what I was doing and she offered to pick me up in her car and drive me back to her place while my brother came to get me. "OMG! This is the greatest crash ever!" I thought to myself. I gave up any intention of finishing the 35 miles I had left to go.
She comes back twenty minutes later and puts my bicycle on the back of her jeep. My brother finally answers his phone and I tell him the situation. I try to give him the girl's address but apparently, I've got a minor concussion, because I can't do it. She offers to speak to him. Well, by the time he's done talking to her, he's got her driving to New Braunfels and meeting him there. So much for going to her place!
Well, on the way there we talk. She's a math major at Texas State. She wants to go to graduate school and go into engineering. I love this girl. She said she rode the MS150 a few weeks ago and said that she wasn't very fast, because it's hard to shift, because her hands are so small.
So the tragic thing is that I didn't ask for her number. I have her address, but it's an apartment building. I don't even remember her name. I'm blaiming it all on head injuries.
Guys, she was perfect for a nerd like me... and a freaking angel. I'm hoping that she reads this forum...
