That is exactly my problem. While the rest of my power profile is generally flat around the low cat 3 level, my 1 minute power is almost off the chart on the low end. That's why I get dropped in the fast group rides. I train for century rides and don't spend too much time training 1 minute power, but I know where my weakness is in my power profile. I get frustrated because I get dropped by guys that ride less, but they mostly ride or train for shorter more explosive efforts.
Fortunately, you have the Bridge-to-Bridge ride and the Assault on Mount Mitchell (among other great competitive rides out there in Western NC) that should be right up your alley. Do you typically ride either of those?
