I think there is a certain acceptance of a cyclist that can keep up with other (motor) traffic. for those of us who can't, the sidewalk or bike lane or side street is the way to go. big city traffic may move at 20-25 MPH but suburban arterials where I live sure don't. it's like 45-60 most of the time. rush hour is probably different, I don't ride during that time... I can't keep track, am I on topic?
