Did the big local hammer ride, tail gunned it for once. Sooooo much easier! But boring and sketchy.
There was a little pileup, surprisingly the first one I've seen on this big (50-ish field?) ride.
Won the final sprint, then visited @Ygduf's babies.

was a great day yesterday, unfortunately no big ride, ended up apple picking and riding the kid trailer on the MUP. did actual training at night via a trainerroad workout, a sweetspot session with 5-7min intervals from 88-94%. even at 94% my HR didn't go about 151 or so (avg 147), I usually expect high 150's/low 160s when at sweet spot (I couple of days ago I was doing 88% and my HR was 161 avg). It's that kind of stuff that makes me glad I don't primarily use HR.

anyone trained on mountain bike shoes? I'd like to try to find a pair of affordable ones with carbon soles, for longevity. from what I understand, the glass fiber and rubber stuff get soft much faster. I'd like to stick close to shimano or specialized wide selections

Haven't been on my bike in a week. I went to California for a wedding. I ate and drank too much. I gained a few pounds, and I think I'm still hung over from Saturday night's festivities. (That or my building is lightly swaying - I'm not sure.)
I wish I could say I felt rested, but I don't.

Did a pretty stupid 110 mile ride yesterday with post Mayor's Cup Legs. That was...."fun" especially when my skinny ass teammates decided they wanted to light up the hills.

IIRC west coast watts read lower than east coast watts but TSS is higher because they're all high and don't know how to use the PMC.

30 miles, 150w avg. 220 TSS. No weird leg stuff other than a quad that's super sore.
Also, I don't know what's better, getting 10 hours sleep and riding in 80-100 degree weather or 7 hours and 70-90 degrees...

Climbed Mt. Wilson, CA last Saturday, 60 mile in all with 7k elevation. That was zone 4 sufferfest but the view on top of the mountain was amazing. Should have started earlier and not 12pm when the sun was in full blaze. I only ate salted almonds & honey oats the whole ride.
Rented a Focus Cayo and what an amazing climbing bike.

Rode for 3 hrs today at the bottom of my zone 2. I'm starting to ramp up volume (already) and as such I'm trying not to overdo it. I'm pretty sure I suceeded in doing that.

Only one 'cross race left before big wedding anniversary vacation in Europe. We'll be gone for two weeks and I'm still unsure what I'm going to do when I get back. I've got pretty crap fitness right now, and I'm not sure if I'm going to want to try and chase good 'cross form when I return, or take the rest of the month off and start building a foundation for next year. I would still race 'cross, obviously, but I wouldn't focus my training on it. But who knows, I might feel really refreshed and eager after a couple weeks of eating and drinking my way across Holland, Belgium and France. One way or another I probably won't be able to really make a decision until I'm back in the USA.

2x30' tempo this morning. Oh, and a form sprint to end it. Can't forget that.
