Future of CSC as a sponsor

I've been hearing rumors of possible acquisition or merger of CSC software for months. Finally it was announced CSC is actually considering its sale.

Is this the same software giant that sponsors Bjarn Riis' cycling squad?

https://www.fcw.com/article92826-04-04-06-Web

Cutting 4300-5000 jobs worldwide and reducing expenditures in Europe is discussed in its statement.
I know any conclusions this early would only be speculation but I doubt this is good news for the cycling team.

Yup, same CSC. Hopefully they can continue sponsoring the team.

It's not like the team will necessarily split apart if CSC can't pony up 10 million bucks to sponsor it for the year. Some other company could pick it up as Disco did with Postal.

Look at some of the potential buyers...
If they can afford to sponsor F1, i dont think a bike team will break the bank!

I work for CSC so yah, some people are grumbling that the company is
sponsoring a team while being offered for sale. However, CSC uses and gets alot of
advertising out of the cycling aspect of the team. The CSC logo is all over Europe,
the TdF, the classics etc. It goes a long way. There is an entire section of clip art
that can be used for letterhead, powepoint presentations etc.
Marketing has a large store of signed jerseys (I keep hinting but it's kind of futile)
like the entire TdF team from last year, calenders, hats, T shirts (Bjarne Riis line).
Also, CSC cycling is a European CSC (danish) entity. I would suspect that as stated
above there will be no wanting for a new sponsor.
(and maybe then I can get one of those signed Tyler, or Ivan jerseys!).

I always thought that it was the Danish arm of CSC that ran the team, as opposed to funding from the US HO?

The company, not the cycling team.

It's a Danish corporation run by Bjarne Riis, much the same way that Discovery is actually a corporation called Tailwind Sports based in Austin, TX. (Co-owned by Armstrong and Jim Ochowitz).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_CSC has a good historical overview of Riis' involvement.

CSC is only the majority sponsor, much like USPS was sponsor of Postal team.

I won't say anything bad about the company (they may be listening!), we were
absorbed by them thats my story.
They are immensely proud of the cycling team, as I said they are using it in
alot of their promotional material and take big accounts to events like the tour
(wish I were a big account and not a small cog).
I've worked in better companies, and worse so all in all it ain't half bad.

Seems like anyone who has anything to do with any call center, any company is disgruntaled. Nature of the business. Call centers suck.

I don't think you could gauge any company culture based on opinions from ACD agents in their call centers.

Based on the nature of the tasks required, call center representatives fall into a job class that characteristicaly has the lowest retention rate when compared to other occupations within the same pay ranges.

How many people do you know who want to make Call Agent a career?

Back on topic: The nature of corporate acquisitions motivates organizations to trim expenses thus making them more enticing to potential buyers. If CSC is encouraging bids on the organization and has openly discussed the reduction of 3000-5000 jobs in Europe, then the possibility is high for additional cost reductions including promotions not directly related to operations - Even USPS was criticized by its auditors for their sponsorship of non-operational expenses (ie US Postal Cyclng team)
