It was 2003 pretty sure, Brownie and Clarke and Snozza were riding as part of the SBR yellow team. Brownie was flicked by McGrory (? Ed is that right?) and did not ride the last stages. This after the Arlington or Mornington round where there were parked vans and cars on the side of the road where Brown deciding to shut the gate on Mcewen. Pretty amusing Brownie, could have easily been up on manslaughter charges with the bar looking for a judge that does C grade crits around Glenvale crescent to preside.

Spot on.
San Remo...lol. Freudian slip.
Yep....GB was ushered to the deck by McGrory after trying to take on the Gold Coast mafia and be the Bay Crit patron du peloton. You only do that once.
Didn't see live...but have got it on VHS "somewhere" in the garage. Great footage....cameraman couldn;t have been in a better psotion.

Mcewen should take on Wade Boots and try for the 2008 Olympic team in the bmx discipline.
I don't think he should be on the 5 man squad because by all reports the circuit is pretty hilly.
Rogers, Evans, Davis,
2 from Walker, Gerrans, O'Grady, Mcgee, Cooke, Renshaw.
Mcgee and Renshaw should be on the track endurance, so they probably will not ride, O'Grady probably get a spot.
I am sure Mcewen will get selected out of misplaced loyalty by Stephens et al, even though he has no chance at winning. Better to take one domestique like Gerrans and just fill the squad with hitters sho can go their own way on the day. The teams are so small that the strength of the team and help make little difference, as the best riders will show themselves on a selective parcours.

here's the transcript
Brown, who finished eighth, was nursing a sore shoulder and hip after his crash and was not happy.
"McGrory came out of nowhere and went boof. I was fighting for it and went down. It just happened like that and it completely impeded me.
"I might protest. I mean, I may have got in the way yesterday but I never dropped anyone."
He said until the fall, he had been "riding for Hilton", the team tactics had been "going perfect" and he had been "feeling great."

True story...
A mate skivved off work to go watch the Kew Boulevard Sun Tour TT.
RM rode there from the hotel in jersey/shorts on road bike, signed autographs until his start time, then rolled off. Sat up and shouted to a spectateur "Which way??" when coming up to the turn off before the Studley Park Rd overpass. The bloke nearly sh1t himself!!

I wish I had of seen "Moto-Robbie" live at the carpark crit that day - only got to see the TV coverage. My younger bro was down there & said it was absolutely amazing to watch live.
Haha, I "excused" myself from my desk for a couple of hours to watch the HS Tour ITT stage down at Kew too, and Robbie was just crusin' his way around. Still riding faster than I would tho.

The old man dropped in tonight and mentioned he was at that crit where Brown nearly put McEwen into the car. He was standing nearby and reckoned it was inexcusible.

The only blokes defending that would have been SBR and Hilton Clarke. It is ok to shut the gate depending on the obstructions. If there are barriers, or just a gutter in an open crit course around some cemetery, then I have no problem if he rides them off the road.
But if there are spectators or cars when things can get really nasty. Brown is not a cerebral sportsperson. If Helen Mirren is the thinking women's sex symbol, Brown is definitely Paris Hilton.
When he was interiew on SEN by Matt Keenan he went on how Napolitano was not well liked in the pleoton. No hint of irony in his voice. He said he had to give Napolitano a bit or a bump to get out when he was boxed, but "that was ok as no one likes Napolitano anyway". I think he referenced that bump as a "love tap" on cyclingnews.

Link to the article on the Bay Classic race where Brown got DQd. The next stage is the one where McGrory tips him off.

According her the pick up line was 'I play for Collingwood'.
He looks like Lurch out of the Adams Family IMO.
