Here is a bit of advice: If you go so hard you puke, make sure it is towards the left. Vomit is a b1tch to clean out of your drive train.

Have fun!

all the talk about the climbs in this race made me remember the best advice i got before a hilly RR: "ride near the front (not ON the front) going into the hills becuase it's a lot easier to stay in the race if you drop from top-ten to mid-pack on the climb than from mid-pack to off-the-back"

I think in this particular race, because 1) it's a Cat5 race, and 2) there's a steep hill right at the start, The odds are high that someone will try to force a selection and drop half the pack right from the gun.

Thus I'd warm up like it was a crit or even a TT.

Which for me would mean 10-15 spin. 5 minutes of tempo, Then a couple of 2 minute LT efforts, and a couple of 30 second all out efforts, Then 5 minutes easy spin to the line.

Where is this race? I ask cuz it looks like the map of LAST years GVCC spring classic. If so, that race has moved for '07. https://gvcc.11net.com/docs/GVCC%20Classic%202007.htm - This years race(also in April)

PS I see you're in Auburn, are you riding w/ Owasco Velo Club? Joining a club (GVCC) is best thing I ever did as far as learning tactics and situations. Hopefully this year I'll be able to apply some of that knowledge instead of getting shelled on a weekly basis. Good luck regardless.
