Why? You look reasonably fit and the guys behind look reasonably fat. Race to your limit all day. If that means going to the front on several occasions to maintain a frenetic pace then so be it. Break as many as you can as early as you can.

If a guy makes his way to the sharp end late in the day, hasn't done a bit of work all day and starts to try to tear your legs off then start yelling at him and call him a f*ck head. Tell him I said so.

Now I'm confused. Do I look like I'm not working or something? In the final sprint, I had a trail of drool hanging from my chin, but the pic isn't good enough to catch it

I was up front for a lot of the race. When the time came for the sprint I was still up front and had nothing left. Ended up 3rd or 4th. I coulda been a contenda....

You especially want to break guys like Waterrockets. Otherwise they will roll over you in the last 200m. Like I said take him out hard all day and just keep hitting him. Eventually you will suck the life out of his sprint legs and blow his farken doors right off.

+1

When you are in a small group you need to know who is there with you. Sometimes it is best to go to the front and suffer knowing that you are making everyone else suffer a whole lot more. Other times it is best to fall to the back and eat off everyone else's plate.

+2 That's why I wasn't in the break yesterday. If the first break I made it into had stuck, I'd have some cash right now. The pace on the first two laps was very volatile, and I did a lot of work. That put me into hiding for four laps! I came out of the rest period very strong, but I wasn't in the break, so not a problem for anyone in the money.

I'm working on it though. It's already going much better than last year...

But the point stands, you do not want me in your break at the finish if you've been friendly to me.

I call that smart racing. Racing at your limit all day sounds cool in conversation but it takes brains to win.

Doesn't really take a lot of brains to suck wheel for 2 hours, then sprint around someone for the win. Sprinters don't get a lot of respect from me.

See this is what I am talking about. Too many guys think they are sprinters. Basically they know they cant climb or TT so they just bundle themselves in the delusional category of 'I'm a sprinter'. They sit on all day thinking they are rocket scientists and then they get there doors completely blown off by real sprinters.

That is when the excuses start. Oh I just couldnt get a run, Oh I just missed this gear or that gear.....and on and on. There arent too many blokes prepared to just say '**** I just got my pants pulled down.

If you cant sprint - stop pretending you can and race as hard as you can from the gun. The sport is boring enough as it is without having to deal with imaginary sprinters who never actually launch a sprint!!
