OMFG...What is happening to the posters in this forum. The luck has been racing south quickly. Doc I'm speechless. I know there is someone out there that can bring it back to racing quality. I'm just thankful nothing happened to those life saving hands.

Sorry to hear about your loss Pete... worse case scenario.... Calfee can't fix it, but with a little duct tape you now have the sweetest indoor only training bike on the forum! Always got to think positive!

Yikes. Sorry

It's cool how everyone rallies support for everyone's favorite BFer.

It'll all work out -- it always does!

Dr. Pete, I bet your head felt like it was going to explode when you saw that crack.

My friend's married to a hand surgeon who doesn't mountain bike because of the damage she's seen with all the mountain bikers and motorcyclists she's worked on. At least your hands made it through the crash unscathed.

That is truly a tragic tale! I will say that you will be surprised by the CAAD9, when I got my CAAD8 I was expecting to be disappointed but came away very happy. I know it's not your dream bike but it will make a great race bike.

What is this a friggin Point Missing Festival?

Dr. Pete crashed in a bike race and is virtually unhurt. That's the Big Story here.

The BIKE? That's no great loss. Get serious. That's nothing more than Guilt Free Schwag Procurement Opportunity #1.

You get no sympathy from me DP. I ENVY your loss. I DREAM of great excuses like that to get a new road bike. Now if those new Zipps had been whacked, THEN you'd have something to cry about. Thankfully they were home.

But all these offers of bikes from other members has me wiping away a tear. Feel the BF love.

The only downside? Bad time of the season for crashing your prime racing bike. Kind of serves you right for not having TWO good racing bikes. That would be Guilt Free Schwag Procurement Opportunity #2.

Does anyone else here been granted two indisputable Schwag Procurement Opportunties today? You lucky, lucky bike weenie. The Sisters of the Our Lady of Dura Achee have smiled on you my son. Say a few Hail Merckxs.

Ah... it was a flat. Makes sense now. I was wondering how/why he wiped out in a less-than-technical corner. He did have some impressive road rash but looked OK overall. Like I said, a pretty minor crash from an injury standpoint for all involved.

This IS the North American Point Missing Festival.

Or of course it could be Pcad hears his own strange voices and nobody else hears them.

Uh-oh.

Oh no, pcad, your points are well-made and taken. I think the cheapie interim frame will eventually morph into a second race-worthy bike, and with any luck the Pinarello can be repaired. Should work out nicely.

And yes--considering all the broken limbs and other heinous ***** happening to all the BF racers lately, this is minor. I have a golf ball-sized piece of road rash and my knee hurts like hell--otherwise I'm fine. Could've been much, much worse.
