The shot of Greg Lemond wining the worlds is really awesome. The look on his face and the guys behind him is classic. For all of his rhetoric over the last few years Greg is my all time cycling hero. He was the guy who inspired me to start racing and introduced European cycling to me. His cycling accomplishments to me are greater than those of Lance, he won the TdF with half the team against him, something LA never had to contend with.

Steve Bauer is probably one of the main reasons I first got into cycling. Here is a shot of him getting nipped at the line in the 84 Olympics. This would probably been more inspiring if he would have won, but I wanted to go out and buy a road bike after watching this event.

I would hate to be a pro cyclist in a grand tour, weakened by 2 weeks of hard riding, on a hot day climbing a hill and have to ride through a throng of people who hate me. (Lance of course had this a lot)

I would love to be a pro cyclist that gets pushed along physically and verbally by a crowd that is going insane just to see you and the rest of the peleton ride by.

That's the pic I was talking about! I love that shot of GL, he's just full gas. Where did you find it? Any color versions?

I have a 36"x24" color poster of this shot in my bike shed. Absolutely my favorite shot. Check www.grahamwatson.com He might have it.

That picture is totally inspiring to us south of the border as well but for different reasons. Alexi Grewal is an all-American hero, patron saint of Jewish riders and guys with skinny legs, and defender of all things right and good (except for OCP helmet-bike matching abilities).

It's not from a race, but it's been my desktop image for about nine months. I forget who posted it here originally, but you can probably find it in the search.
