My TT bike redux

The new cockpit with the Easton Attacks just transforms this bike. I'm much lower and more comfortable.

Cool rig. I think I'm going to look into buying up a used cockpit for the Ritchey, then start looking for a used frame and a front wheel... and wheel covers for the PTap...

They are for sale, I only use them when I don't have the SRM on the bike, kinda like a big aluminum chain keeper. BTW they are for sale, see link below.

I know someone touched the subject already, but how do you guys get away with having your saddles so far of UCI standards? Are you guys subjected the UCI rules at states and larger races? Pardon my ignorance, I'm not a US resident so I'm not familiar with The US racing bodies and there rules.

No, we follow USA Cycling, which hasn't adopted the UCI rules. Master's Nationals and Junior nationals(IIRC) were subject to the UCI rules, but generally your local TT is not.

Don't get me wrong I think some of the UCI bike regulations are ridiculous but it seems somewhat counterproductive for development of riders not to follow them. I'd assume that most of the elite level race in a UCI legal position?

Why counter productive? Before this year, the category riders in the United States didn't have to worry about UCI legality. Now, it's just one race that mandates position (Nationals). If a person has a solid position and/or dabbles in tri's or du's and does not intend to race nationals, why bother changing now? I, on the other hand, have a goal race of nationals (in 2010) so I figured I better get my position legal sooner than later.

Most of us won't ever have to worry about being "elite level" bike racers anyway.

Wow, this makes me want to test ride a TT bike now.

I may stroll to the next town over to watch a TT or two, just to get the feel for it.

Test riding a TT bike is the best way to make sure you never get one.

My recently completed TT bike:

Frame/fork: Tsunami Time Traveler (aluminum frame, carbon fork/steering tube), 52cm
Cranks, derails, cassette, chain, brakes, pedals: Ultegra 6600
Bars: Profile Design T2 wing base bar with T2+ aero extension
Levers: Profile Design Quick Stop 2
Shifters: Dura-Ace 10-speed bar-ends
Saddle: Profile Design Tri-Strike
Rear wheel: Mavic Ksyrium SL, seen here with a home trainer tire (it is November, after all) and Wheelbuilder.com disc covers.
Front wheel: Bonty Race Lite, borrowed from another bike. If I find myself in contention for the podium, this will get upgraded to something better (HED3, perhaps).

Bringing this back so I can have my turn.

Got the frame on Ebay for around $330, included the seat post, headset & fork. Picked up everything else used. I already had the wheels.

Record derailleurs and shifters
Chorus brakes
Dura-ace 180mm cranks
Specialized saddle
Hed cock-pit

Weighs 18.5 lbs.

All in all I kept the build under $1500. I'm sure I could have went a lot cheaper, but I happy with the result.

Based on the amount of food I ate for Thanksgiving, yes, I'm growing.
