Has anyone done this before? What are your thoughts? I'm not too familiar with that part of Poolesville, but I don't recall there being much parking available...

big field to park in, rolling course on narrow roads with "sticky" surfaces. course isnt "selective" but most races end in a breakaway, even Cat 4. I always say it's a racers course in that the racers make it hard, or not. my team promotes it, let me know if you have any questions.Originally Posted by bdcheung

Oh The Huge Manatee
I really cant see any reasons not to do it and I am not just saying that because we are putting it on.
I did it last year and had a great time. I cant believe for the second year in a row I will be going into this event with only a week or two or road riding after an injury though.

Cool, I'll finally get to meet you.
How fast does reg fill up? Is this going to be another "race for registration"?

its at a different time of season this year so its hard to tell. I certainly wouldnt take any chances though. Dont worry it will be announced plenty of times on this forum.

Gotcha. Thanks. That was a good race for me last fall. When is it this year?

I haven't done the race yet, but I train on a bunch of those roads on long fall rides. It looks like a good course. You should do it. I probably will.
I'm that guy that I am.
Mens cat 4 and 5 all full. So much for signing up. 8(
Good thing p/1/2 has three riders registered and a 75-person field limit. 8)

Last time I did it was 1999. I remember race parking and registration being in a cut grass field. I guess I'll find out again. I tentativly signed on as a motoref for that one too.Originally Posted by bdcheung

Now here's a suggestion: Reduce the p/1/2 race to half the distance and make it a sprint race. Add a 3/4 or 4/5 grouping. Cater to the masses and pull in more entry money doing it. Just random ideas since you asked.
See y'all at the race.

If that's directed at me then the answer would be no. I'm not on the mailing list nor have I ever been. Sounds like one of these days I'll have to go find it and do some reading.Originally Posted by bdcheung
So what, we're dragging the MABRA listserv debate into BF now?

There was just a big discussion over promoters combining fields, which is the best way, why women always get the short end of the stick, yadda yadda yadda. The topic was argued ad nauseum, which is why I was so irritated seeing it pop up here.

well there are 63 out of 75 spots filled for the poolesville 123 race so why shouldnt we expect to get a similiar turn out for our race? The elite races rarely fill up quickly so you cant say there isnt a demand when reg hasnt even been open for 24 hours.Originally Posted by rizz
