Bump.

Out of towners in P12 racing categories, good race weekend - Murad RR on 5/31 (info below) and CSC Invitational Criterium on 6/1 (info even farther below).

Only a little over a week remaining to pre-register for the Michael P
Murad road race sponsored by the All American Bicycle Center (www.aabikes.com
) on May 31st. $3,770 in cash and merchandise will be up for grabs
plus the coveted MPM trophy for the winner of the Pro/1/2 event.
Details can be found here:

https://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=6294.

This year, with the date change, we are right smack in the middle of
the racing season and sandwiched between of some of the biggest Mid-
Atlantic races. It's lead to a strong showing in the Pro/1/2 race
where, along with the rest of the dominant Battley Harley-Sonoma
riders, we will also have the World Cyclocross Silver Medalist -
Jonathan Page. There will also be a strong showing from Immediate
Mortgage - Artemis Elite, Kelly Benefit Strategies, NCVC and ABRT/
Latitude.

While most of the men's fields have been filled for a while now, there
are still 25 spots open in the Pro/1/2 and plenty of room in the women's.

CSC Invitational Information for Registration.

It's going to be a windy (and maybe rainy) one tomorrow. Good tips.

I may have to HTFU and race this. First time back on the bike yesterday after my crash, and I felt pretty good. Now if only I could coordinate a break like yours to get away from the crash-causing yahoos. I was terrified by the lack of bike handling at Jeff Cup, and this field will be a lot of the same people (minus some of the collegiate riders) with the addition of a yellow line rule. At least I'm almost as familiar with these roads..at least Sugarland and Partnership..as I was with the Jeff Cup course.

you should definitely race since there is already a decent amount of women prereg'd. should be a nice field. I would expect a lot of the people that had poor bike handling skills at jeff cups to have improved my now too

aic, glad you're feeling OK on the bike. I've been lucky enough to only have relatively minor crashes (with the exception of a four-broken-joint one off of a mountain bike in 2001), so I've just stayed on the bike and not had to deal with the mental aspect of being off of it for a while and getting back on.

I tried to come up with useful stuff for the tips but found it to be surprisingly challenging... it's not like I know anything that everybody else doesn't!

Good luck tomorrow!

Except how to turn the pedals around really, really hard

You've got that down better than most of us.

Yeah...you'd think....

I didn't really have much time off. Just a few days to let the bruises on my head heal enough I could put a helmet back on.

The course will be challenging for me. Just enough rollers. Some rough pavement (the vibration messes with my pedal stroke enough I consider it a weakness). Uphill finish. I'm a much better crit racer and TTer, but I've been looking forward to battling it out with this course.

Lithuania, why are the races with no prize $$ still $30 to enter? Not that I expect to win any money this weekend, but still...

promoter's cost is > $6k to put on this race. by USAC rules, we're not allowed to award anything of monetary value to C5, and since W4 is analogous to C5, we've decided to treat it same way.

Ok. It's no biggie. Just wondering. I've been spoiled by collegiate race prices, I guess. I'm just glad this race is long enough that it's not more than a buck a mile...not including the late fee I'll need to pay.

LOL Thanks, Snuff. I'm scared to see what will happen when you recover from this surgery and (hopefully) stay healthy for long enough to build on what you had going a few weeks ago.

Well that sucked. OTB halfway through the last lap, just to see my teammate crashed on the side of the road with a head injury.

Because of an approaching storm (and apparently there was lightning somewhere on the course), we were informed with under 2k to go on the next to last lap that we would be sprinting on that lap and ending the race. Too bad I was chilling in the back of the pack waiting for the last lap. I still managed to turn the corner and take 6th. Some squirrelly handling in that race and at least 4 blatant violations of the yellow line rule, which went unnoticed. Overall, not bad. I wasn't feeling my best, and my legs were jello by the sprint, so it was a better result than I expected.

That really sucked. I was working reg when I heard that come over the radio. I was kind of shocked when I heard they were going to cut the race a lap so close to the end of the lap.

definitely could have been worse. you could have been in the pack when that crash went down. Last year I got dropped on the last lap and I rolled into the last corner seeing a bunch of downed riders and was just thankful I missed out on that action.

He's doing a-ok, suffered some road rash and a big bump to the head (cracked helmet) but he's fine now.
