Winning cat 1 went 1:44, winning 40+ went 1:53, I went 2:03. Was so anaerobic coming into the turn that I almost blew it badly. Was seeing spots at the finish. Still sucked.

Question regarding timing. Rode a prologue TT yesterday - didn't get a chance to check the results until I got home and then I noticed that my chip time was significantly higher than my garmin time.
Chip time was 6:39, TOTAL garmin time was 6:30 (hit start 5" prior to actual start, stop a second or so after crossing finish, and didn't have auto pause on), so I figure the chip time is at least 10" off. Is this normal?
FWIW, my power file shows that I ran about a 6:20. Assuming no one else had timing chip "issues", that would put me on top of the podium. No prize money involved and its obviously too late to challenge anyway, but now I'm curious.

Looking for a TT specific saddle for my wife. She's currently on an ISM Adamo and having issues with numbness and sore lady bits. She's spent a good couple years using it and it's fine for shorter TTs, but for the 40km TTs it gets pretty bad. The TT bike is set up to UCI specs, since she'll be running the bike at Masters Nationals in Canada, so she's hoping to find a saddle to maximize that setup...Hence the ISM saddle. Right now the only two I can think of is the Fizik Ares and the Prologo Zero...

Thanks guys. Will check those out. Right now I'm leaning towards a Mistral from 3T. In my price range (used) and looks clean. Should be a significant upgrade from the profile design setup that came stock. Reading the reviews, mistral sounds like it allows a lower position than the aura.

Is there usually quite a jump from one's selection of road racing saddle to a time trial saddle?
I am building up a TT bike which is fairly aggressive (I am pretty flexible, and the TT's are 20k or less) and was wondering if riders are generally able to use their RR saddle model or if they typically need to make a drastic change.
I use a Fizik Antares on my RR bike and it fits me perfectly. I see they make the Ares, an Antares with a cut-down nose. I was considering the possibility of ordering one.

That didn't work for me, but I'm sure its quite personal. I went through a number of saddles and ended up with an adamo.

This. Most of the road saddles I had to "pick a side" when on the TT bike or lose my manhood. I prefer the Adamo so I can center up pretty good, and its quite comfy.

So I haven't raced in a while and wasn't a forum guy back them either (04-05). I loved TT's and even built up a bastardized TT bike out of a Trek 1200 touring frame... It was a fairly tricked out bike minus the frame.
The last incarnation of the bike had longer cranks then my road bike. IIRC I have 172 or is it 172.5's on my road bike and I had read that some TT specialist would run slightly longer cranks on their TT rigs. So I ended up sticking some 175's on for more leverage as the thinking went.
Well I'm getting back into riding after a long long hiatus and once again will put a lot of focus into TT'ing.
I am not sure if I'll rebuild that same TT bike or buy a new frame but the question is, do you keep the crank length the same, longer or shorter then your road bike?

I have different crank length on every bike. I'm a taller guy at 6'5" so I usually run 177.5. That being said, my TT rig has 180s and my crit bike 175s. Personally I do not see much difference between the 177.5 and 180s. When I look at Taylor Phinney at same height 6'5", he is running 175s. Cancellara is 6'1" and he is using 177.5. So just go and ride the frigin bike and dont worry about the crank size

Any thoughts on the Motobecane Nemesis as a cheapo TT frame? It's heavy, but I don't really care about that. It's ugly, ditto. But can it be made into a decent TT bike?

It's a flexy POS. I had one and had issues with FD rub and the chain coming off when I was out of the saddle. I'm 155 and it's not like I'm some track sprinter either.

Still haven't gotten around to getting a TT frame. In the meantime, a couple of teammates have challenged me to do the local 10 mile TT (Putah Creek Smackdown) in Merckx style. I agreed to use my 32-spoke Open Pros, standard helmet, standard kit, hell I'll even leave on my frame pump and saddle bag. My first question is tops or drops? I am thinking of a picture I've seen of the Man himself on the tops:
I figure that having my hands on the tops near the stem, with my elbows tucked in, would be more aero than the drops. Thoughts?
