Category TT

I an omnium race this weekend they are having what they call a category Time Trial. It involves each category (Cat3,4,5) lining up at the start, and blasting off. Its about 7 miles long and ends with a 3 mile climb at the summit of Wolfpen Gap. They are saying its sure to become a classic but it just sounds like a cluster **** if you ask me. I don't know why they couldn't just do it individual. I didn't even sign up for it and am just doing the Circuit and RR.

Sounds like a really short point to point road race, where is the TT part?

1. if you are interested in the omnium overall placing you should check as most races will require competing in all three event to place.

2. Mass start hill climb TT's don't really fit into any other category(not a RR or circuit or crit) and since it's an omnium final times wont really matter just placing. We have a couple of them on the Nor-Cal season(Ross's Epic, Mt Tam, Diablo etc.)

omniums typically do not require you to participate in all events. that's what makes them omniums as opposed to stage races. your local promoter might make their own rules for the event though.
