Q Factor?

My cleats (time) can be swapped left to right to change the Q Factor. How does one determine
which to use?

I don't know how you are supposed to determine the Q factor, I kept mine in tight because I wasn't hitting the crankarms or having any pain.

I don't have Times, but if the cleats engage, and your big toe isn't rubbing the crank, it should be ok, right?

Those look symmetrical to me though, or is the bronze bit flipped? It looks like you can flip that guy around too.

They are asymmetrical. Placed on one foot it gets you closer to the crank. On the other further away.

Q-factor is one of those things that's backed up by a lot of opinion, untested hypotheses, and personal experiences. So, whatever works for you is the answer.

depends on the angle of your foot on the pedal, and the spacing of your hip joints. You don't want your shoe hitting the chainstay, nor the crankarm...and your upper leg, knee, and foot should be pretty much in a straight line when viewed from the rear....i.e. some drafting you
