You're probably spot on concerning Lance's motivation for riding MSR, but I'm more excited because Lance riding MSR will bring even more visibility to the meat and potatoes of cycling; one-day races.

My non-riding friends have no idea that cycling exists outside of the Tour de France (or most recently ToC and ToMO).

Hey, beggar's can't be choosers.

I'll admit I'm minutely let-down that Lance isn't racing any of the Classics (in the traditional sense of the term, which requires that the race be in Belgium), but MSR is better than nothin'.

yet another illustration as to why there should be an IQ test to gain entry to Road Bike Racing.

yeah, he did come in second but did he not beat ALL of wien's previous best after 4 years off and did you see how fat he was than compared to the ToC? common folk and folkettes, you may not want to believe it or rather i guess i'm the only one whom can see through it all but no one takes Lance, not unless he decides it's okay.

Not planning on catting up anytime soon, so don't wait for me. I wouldn't want to be the cause of "******ining" your demonstration.

I appreciate the sentiment, but the traditional sense of the term Classics is that there are exactly 8, they are:

The five monuments, plus La Fleche, Paris-Brussels, and Paris-Tour.

Calling anything else a classic, or a "minor classic" or a "semi-classic" ignores the original intent, which came from the Challenge Desgrange Colombo which was sort of a precurser to the Super Prestige Pernod trophy.

Just passing on a little history.
