This was dinner tonight:

Cooked with a friend.

We cooked quinoa with apples and dates with some red pepper, cinnamon, and some other stuff. Then put it into a half of a squash 30 mins into cooking. Cook 25 mins more and dunzo.

And a pork chop for good measure..

One of my friends used to race in Iowa. One time when he was out training in Feb, he got into a scuffle with a truck driver and threw a frozen-solid bottle through the windshield. Then they brawled and both ended up in jail overnight.

if you wear a baseball cap, with its new era tags still dangling off of it, and the size sticker on the brim, you'll fit right in.

I've actually been pretty tempted lately to buy one of these black north face zip up jackets as a middle layer. The entire dress shirt, hoody, peacoat getup is a little ghetto...

judging by your incessant use of the term "bro", "brah", etc, one would think that would be a good thing.

I use those terms to be ironic. You know, cause I'm such a wesleyan hipster.

Or maybe I'm just being like meta-ironic or something.

Brah.

No, I'm screwed. TNF Mountain Light with zip-in TNF Denali. Wool TNF hat, and PI Aqua-Not lobster gloves or my PI fleece gloves. It's ok though, I'm done worrying about impressing the ladies

Wind driven devastation and despair.

It's mile 60 and you've just pedaled 20 miles along rolling terrain into a stiff headwind, and even though there are 200 of you on the ride, few are able to form cooperating groups in those conditions. You have just one more climb to go. On a good day you can make it to the top in 7 minutes. On this day you'll be lucky to finish in 10. On a good day, a core group of 30 often finish together. On this day...

Eating oatmeal, listening to awesome trashy techno, and getting ready to head out to PT. Hoping they can work their magic.

All you need is the camera around your neck and you will complete the tourist look.

Woke up with a slight cold. I think the 106 miler on Sunday put me over the edge. I haven't done anything like that in many months.
Couple that with being home with kids for several days because of the snow.

A couple of weekends ago I did the Polar Bear ride in Davidson. It's not a race, but it's always treated like it from most of front runners. A lot of teams show up and use it as a training ride/race.

Within 10 miles I found myself in a 7 man break that soon dwindled down to 4 of us. Then it became three of 'them' when I couldn't hold on any longer. It was on an open stretch of road with some nasty winds and snow. Here's a shot from this section I believe (taken from a fellow rider). I was caught out in it for a while until a 5 man chase group caught me. I heard the winds were gusting up to 30mph. All I knew was that at some places the snow was falling sideways and I felt like I was being pushed over.

It was a great ride. I think 300 people showed up for it even though it was real cold and windy. The food afterward was worth it.

I want to message her but I think I'll wait till she's physically back so I can actually talk to her.

Found out the other day that this is her sister.
