so, a rainy day debate

It appears I've become the overall leader in the NYC Spring Series. The way the series works is you're awarded points based on pay outs. So for example first place in the 1, 2 race is worth 87 points. First in the masters is 57 points. It seems the race leader crashed out of the 1, 2 race last week and by virtue of my win I've become the overall leader. While it's our team's agenda to win the overall, which has only done one other time by a master's rider (my team mate actually) it's also possible we could lose the jersey after this week simply based on the open race being worth more points and our one chance to show it off will be missed.

So.... do I wear the jersey or not on Sunday?

go

I should add that this is all based on the loose math of some not very smart people (me being one of them). The promoter is a bit slow off the mark at updating the point totals, so it's possible this whole discussion is moot.

You only get so many chances to wear a leaders jersey...

This advice has some bad recriminations for me.

You guys sure g should wear the jersey?

On his behalf I'd point out that maybe because the leader crashed out, it's like not wearing the yellow if the Tour leader crashes out.

Personally if a guy crashes out of the lead, I think the next leader shouldn't wear the jersey until they "earn" it by placing/winning and actively gaining the points (versus passively gaining points by someone in front of them crashing). Or not losing time or whatever the case may be.

I can't think of any other excuses to not wear a leader's jersey. Someone that earns the privilege should wear it.

Farq.

cdr

*edit* I should point out that I'm also not a good math person, to the point where I've almost given out a trophy and someone whispers to me "I think that guy got third, not this one" and then I have to call a new guy up to the podium because my addled brain did bad math. So in defense of, and protection for, promoters who do bad math, please double check all results posted (including the ones I post) for bad math. I already have a list of corrections for Bethel from last week.

Just wear the jersey g. Don't worry, if somebody doesn't like it, they'll tell you. Or email Van Dunk and ask him what he thinks. I'm forwarding you his email address. It's his race. If he says it's OK, it's OK.

It is raining. You are just in the wrong part of the country.

wear it. He's worked hard to get to where he is and the other guy didn't complete the race. Not like they took a lottery to see who would wear it.

I don't even know if I have it.

In general I'll see what the majority thinks and then do the opposite.
