Do you not remember Levi asking the whole field to slow down and wait for his domestique after he fell down last year? Or was that two years ago? I forget.
Anyway, that moment put me off Levi forever. Although some other riders laughing at him almost made it ok.

American riders get a big break on American based message boards. They win a minor race and one bigger one and all of a sudden they're going to win the TDF, Giro and Vuelta.

Shameless bumpage.

He finished off the podium in the Giro, but perhaps the Tour is better suited to my bald little munchkin. I still have faith

And the French no doubt get a big break on France-based message boards, the Italians on Italy-based message boards, the Swedes... well, you get the point. Goofy athletic nationalism in the face of all reason seems to be as much a European trait as an American one. Only they might not have the self-appointed worldly and wise member to inform them repeatedly of the foolish parochialism embedded with their national character that leads them to so frequently over-inflate the abilities of their compatriots. We can only be grateful that, here in America, we have you to not only disagree with a prediction, but to expound upon the exceptional national ignorance that leads us into such foolishness.

By the way, I don't think LL is going to win the Tour. But Laggard here makes me want to root for him.

levi is going to be the 3rd option on his own team so i don't see him winning. podium possibly if
contador/armstrong retire or are out of the running due to illness/injury/superbonk.

levi and cadel (and menchov) are are essentially the same rider; all are consistently strong time trialists over
different distances and profiles, all have raced & finished multiple gt's at different times of the year with great
results, and all 3 usually finish within a handful of seconds of each other on mountaintop finishes-
occasionally vying for a stage win but more likely placing anywhere from 3rd to 15th.

if astana puts together the type of team time trial on stage 4 that i think they can, the astana
boys could be up on many of their main rivals by 30 seconds to 3 minutes with 80% of the race left.

As much as I like Levi, he can't win. He doesn't have ANY attack compared to the other GC contenders.

The whole reason AC won the tour two years ago is because Levi couldn't respond to Rasmussen's attacks so AC took him on (lost, but w/o getting caught dopping)

I sure wish the French would produce some talent, then they wouldn't have to whine about Armstrong so much.

I still think you have to consider Contador the favorite.
My personal dark horse is Andy Schleck, he's young but he's got a ton of talent, as last year's White Jersey and this year's LBL attest.
