I believe so..he wasn't that far from the line. I erased it on the DVR, so I can't give you the time.

aidy 05-31-09 03:36 PM

yes, even with the rain
He had the shared top time at the half point I think - or maybe at the first checkpoint or something.

I'm fatigued by 3 week GT's.....I hadn't noticed that second set of podium girls. Had been the black woman and the long-haired blonde all thru tour until...out they come to cheek it up with Menchov. Sweet looking brunette and great blonde.

I'll be more fit for TdF and would actually like to see the first TdF thread start this coming week. There are some good piss-offs going now and, I would kinda miss the loss of momentum should we wait till July.

Botto seems at his best when the pressures on with these big GT's and I give him a 9.5 for some funny sheit thru the Giro, particularly the last few stages, when most have fallen by the wayside yet B. battles on.

Now you're talking my front yard. I was just up Stunt yesterday. Always a joyful kick in the pants. Unfortunately, road construction is still going on, so the ocean view was mostly blocked by 12 ft mounds of dirt. :(

For stark, semi-arid, coastal climate, the Santa Monicas are as impressive as anywhere else on Earth, I agree.

You thought Cunego was the future of the grand tours too though.

Some comparison there, Santa Monicas to Italy :roflmao2::roflmao2::roflmao2:

Is the Menchov train going with him as the Tour de France winner this year?

They didn't stress reading and comprehension much in that one room school house in Fontucky did they.

I dont mind admitting that at that time I thought cunego was among the young racers who would shape the GTs for the next decade, along with contador, the schlecks, valverde, basso, that rabobank kid whose name I cant remember and some others who I dont recall right now. there is a post here or on another forum where I was waxing poetic about what a great time we were entering for pro cycling and mentioned those dudes (probably not andy schleck because he wasnt yet on the scene, but definitely mentioned frank). I particularly thought cunego was worth mentioning after the TdF young rider competition he won by throwing down a strong TT. someone else tipped me off on contador, so I was calling him a future great before he really fully arrived.

sometimes you're right, sometimes you're wrong. <shrug>.

Who would've guessed Cunego would ride clean and preach the gospel of anti-dope scripture. Of note he came in 20 minutes ahead of your boy Lovkvist.

Lovkist wasn't "my boy". I was covering a set of cleats on a top ten for him though. Silly me.

Cunego finished slightly less than 5 minutes ahead of Francis De Greef too; this no doubt brings warm fuzzy feelings to the nether regions of Lampre bosses when they write him that giant check. As for his preaching any gospel, history is filled with the musings of Mr. Cannotgo, it would take a researcher months to catalog his BS.

Maybe Tommy D will end up taking his place. :innocent:

I did mean Burbank, Italy in my initial post that begat your initial reply in praise of the Santa Monicas, so...

Burbank, Italy. Incongruity defined right there.

Laggard 06-01-09 04:26 PM

Cunego's been a bit of a disappointment for me. I will no longer put money on him to win another GT.

if you're using CERA, and think it cant be detected during drug testing, do not go to europe.
