I tend to notice things that I can see from directly behind people's bikes, not so much from the sides (such as wheels).
I was entranced in one of my first races (not literally entranced, but entertained for sure) by a guy's KCNC titanium jockey pulley on his RD. It was red and drilled. Beautiful to watch spinning.

I've never seen any around here.
Now for the true reason I posted...
Damocles, that's not your butt in your avatar is it? If so, that's disturbing.

At 5:08 - 5:38 there's a guy to my left in red with a white band - he's on a Parlee, Lightweights, Campy, carbon everything. A few guys had them on that team. One of the guys/teammates even had Aerolites.
I don't know if I could race on them with my current job, but if I could afford them, I would. Why not, right? I race what I have, I buy what I can afford. If I can't afford it, I don't buy it. I'd have to be in a totally different atmosphere fiscally though before I'd race Lightweights.

If you can afford them, why not have them. I can't afford them, but the guy mentioned in the above quote sure can......and if he crashes, he can afford to replace them. It must be nice

There's a guy who races here and owns a bike shop. He pulled up to a race once in his newish 7-series BMW.... he pulls a De Rosa King 3 out of the car and puts on a pair of Lightweights. Then he pulls out his spare wheels. You guessed it... another pair of Lightweights

There's this kid I always saw in the 5's now I see him tail gunning with me in the 4's, really young. He rides a Pinarello Prince in crits, man must be nice to have that sort of disposable income at that age.

Yes, was at a race not too long ago and my cat-aka slow 4/5 was over. So wife and I were watching the CAT 3 crit, saw a guy with a nice S3 and Lightweights. Told my wife the guy had better be fast. He was very fast and was off the front the entire race.

Actually saw a pair at our local (Plano/Dallas Tx) Tuesday nighter last night. This was the B race - 4's, women, and 35+3's, 45 minutes on a flat open non technical crit.

Making a kilometer blurry
I haven't seen every post in here, but I think I might be the only one so far to finished behind a pair of Lightweights...
Ugh.
