The flat on the last lap was very unfortunate. But the race was a hell of a lot of fun.
I think it's incredibly ironic that RudeSiggy, who was so outspoken in complaining about the start time, got third!
p.s. MDcatV, did the wheel van pull out on the last lap? I didn't see it pass me after my flat...

had I not been picked up, I'm sure your field would have rolled by before I made it to Hughes Road

^go 1st time through. warm up well and be ready. if you go before fields are neutralized (assuming that happens) odds are the field will be neutralized but the breakaway (especially if just you) wont be, whereas if you're in the pack when fields mix, it gets very confusing.
a couple of years ago at Murad, the year truckin' won the M3 race, the M3 race was uber slow at the beginning, was caught by a blistering P12, and the pack (M3) was neutralized but the breakaway wasnt. After a furious chase by the M3, we passed the P12, who was neutralized while their breakaway wasnt. That was a crazy effin' day.
Two years before that, the M3 caught the P12 on the 1st lap, no one was neutralized as the officials let us go by, then the P12 caught and passed us a short time later. This was before any breakaways were established.
Damn, I've been a Cat 3 too long.

wow, that's confusing.
Last year at ToWC, we had to pull over onto the grass and wait for even some straggling Cat5's to pass (who we later had to pass). I guess that was because of the narrow road size and fairly blind curves. If there's a break and if the field has to come to a complete stop, does anyone make the break stop (then or later)?

Oh, wait, BD, it may have been an ambulance that rolled in the lot that early. But...I think the maroon truck was already there (maybe i pulled up next to it to let the other vehicle in?). At any rate, it was parked a LONG time before you arrived (it rolled out again with the 1/2/3 women).

I guarantee you, it wasn't just one guy that made the break work, although the strength of the individuals definitely added to the speed, of course!
It was 7 of the 8 of us pushing it hard. As I said before there were some hard hitters in there and that's exactly why I joined up. Ask FatGuyRacer who got to watch us. The load was shared pretty well at the beginning, then it died to pulling being done mostly by the Bike Rack (Tim in particular, who won), myself, and C3. Coppi helped a bit at the end too.
