Too many calories too early and too soon before the ride.

That's what I was thinking. Anyone have a roll out of bed and ride breakfast? I've gone out for an hour with only a few sipps of water and felt good but wanted to see if there was any improvement with something actually in my stomach. Anything over an hour I will wake up earlier to eat something.

if my workout is just an hour, that early in the morning, i really don't eat anything other than a banana. sugar in the morning really upsets my stomach.

Early workouts (even races) I eat nothing but maybe a gu at the start line. Doesn't matter how long it is.

welp, I flirted with my limit and for better or for worse, i found it.
Small little cold came on last night and into today. Sore throat, bit of congestion and a tiny headache. Body feels good, though. Part of me is glad it's not worse, and part of me is a bit frustrated that my imune system is such a wussy.
Sit bones are still bruised from a 10 hour weekend, too.
plan is to lift some weights and do a bit of core work now and get 30-90 minutes of z1 in today, enjoy the weather. Maybe a few form sprints if frisky.
Tomorrow is 10" sprints (5-8 reps?) outdoors on the road bike and then as it gets dark, get inside on the trainer on the TT rig for 30' with a few tempo intervals, to sowly get accoustomed to the grundle killing position.
Thursday is 4' vo2 max interval session #2.

no way man theyre great!
eh...
i'm not really a coffee guy though
my wife is a coffee nut and she thinks theyre disgusting too.
i like them cuz they've got vitamins, protein, calcium, good number of calories, low fat, lots of caffeine and theyre liquid which is easy on my tummy.
before i discovered the doubleshots, i used to do the frappucinos forr the same reason. actually set my PR at the mt evans HC fueled by two big frappucinos.

If I didn't eat before a morning race, I'd get a migraine IN the race (the one's where I can't really see). This sunday I made myself 2 travel mugs of coffee for hte drive and ate an egg/sausage burrito I made on my way out the door. Nothing but water during, but it was only 2 hrs

No coffee for me. Just a little water to restore losses from the night.
If the race isn't early morning, then I'll eat breakfast 2.5-3 hours before the start time though.

20-30mph winds, with rain, and a falling temp. Doing repeats of gates pass. Had to duck in the bathroom to avoid the storm for a bit. Back at my apartment to get my leg warmers, now time to do 3 more repeats...
edit: **** that, it just dropped 5º in the 5 minutes it took to find my leg warmers. Staying inside seems like a good option.

Really wanted to get outside in nice mid-60s weather with no wind. Didn't have much time, so I rode 1:15 pretty hard. Set a new 1' best, but I don't think I'd call it a max. 1200kJ... I'll take it. 297W NP, 268W AP.

comparing seveal rides that were the same over the last few weeks I've steadily been putting out more and more power with lower and lower HR (and PE). That makes me happy

AM: 40 minutes easy spinning to work.
PM: 1 hour in brutal headwind home from work
and then
crashed ZCs crit practice. it was the most fun i've had on a bike in a really long time
i realized on my way home thatdespite reading this forum and following pro cycling and listening to the podcasts and reading the books, today was the first time i've ever participated in cycling as a team sport, or thought about myself in terms those terms.
so i was uh... sort of ********... in terms of teamwork. hope i didnt wear out my welcome as a result.
i got what i wanted out of the day though, opened up the legs, got some constructive input on group handling, mixed it up with a bunch of folks of similar ability, and hopefully started laying some foundation for thinking more tactically in the future. i was decidedly not there yet, but i'm looking forward to it.
so thanks for the invite, Ze.
