chee-zus...

how tall are you?

I'm 5'9 and about 148 right now. I can get as low as 140 but anything below that and I start feeling weak.
Sometimes I wonder if drastic diatary changes like going vegan or no simple carbs off the bike would let me hit that weight or lower and retain my power.

Then I remind myself that I'm doing this for fun, and because I actually enjoy the lifestyle.
I'll take my steak, wine and junk food please.

I'm an omnivore, but I'm really trying to minimize simple sugars too. Not doing too well this week with all this Halloween crap lying around.

5'9", so it's not that big of a deal, it's the lowest I've been since high school. I didn't do it for cycling, I did it because of migraines as part of an elimination diet, after about 2 weeks I really started liking the way I felt on and off the bike, so it is staying. I just don't eat meat (of any kind), dairy or any processed sugars.

the first couple of weeks i cheated here and there, but now, when I eat junk, I feel like junk so it's pretty easy. It's not like I freak out and go crazy if I get something I am not supposed to, I am not doing the diet for the same reasons most vegans are.

Well if you feel that much better i'm sure it's worth it. That's kind of a weird concept for me because I feel good already, but I suppose I could feel better. How are the migraines doing?

That kinda makes me think I should give it a shot for 6 months or so one of these years.

Fiesta Island base testing today, did 20k in 30 minutes flat on my road bike, also used a HRM for the first time. Average heart rate was 188

hoping to drop to ~28 minutes by February

Hm.

When I diet I have these massive bonk type episodes where I absolutely need sugar now, getting dizzy, cold sweat, etc.

I must be doing it wrong.

2.5 with a new teammate.
Legs are okay, much better than last year at this point for sure. Feeling decent, time to fix that (eg - start weighing in)

Now time to go try on some custom-tailored kit that our team may move to for next year.

Some of the shop guys are coming out on the team ride tomorrow... should be fun.

Good to hear - I think this is the first Saturday I haven't ridden in a while..

I've only heard bad things about JL kits, but it sounds like we're heading in that direction since the new powers-that-be seem to really really want it. And I guess the old powers that be (you et al) are heading in that direction too from what I hear. I just hope we (the rest of the team not involved in the design process) get to give some kind of feedback on the design before we have to wear it!!

I also heard it's going to look like the old Hagens kit... which is great if you miss your old team, not sure how I feel about it.. at worst I can sport last year's kit I guess.

But enough griping, thanks for planning for next year! =]

Some of the shop guys are coming out on the team ride tomorrow... should be fun.
Man, I'm out of the loop.. are these rides being planned on the new forum? Well the cat's out of the bag now, I might just come out and play.

My training plan today was 5 hours of Zone 2. I was going to drop out of the team ride when it no longer followed the plan, but I got sucked into a much tougher ride and two hours shorter by being stupid. One of our team riders that like cross is now enjoying a bit of fitness and I guess that he also enjoyed guttering everybody in the strong crosswinds (20+ mph). It felt good at the time and I was thinking about going out again after the team ride and a bit of lunch, but that was enough for today because I'd like to be able to ride tomorrow. I need the everyday volume of base training right now.

I rode an hour.

I wore a heart rate strap.

I also put a new battery in my quarq.

I'm not ready to start being serious yet, but my head's starting to get back on straight.. Probably need another week, but I'm getting there.

Hill climb race on Saturday and a 3 hour endurance ride today. The weather is stellar with sunny skies and temperatures in the high 60s low 70s.
