was told i had low iron (~12.4) the last time i went to donate platelets...didn't want the side effects of traditional iron supplements, so am trying blackstrap molasses. the results are 1 point higher iron levels in 2 weeks, but still shabby performance on the bike.

Got out of work late (I hated getting out late although I was happy that one of the projects that's really needed to get started...for the past 3 weeks...finally has begun. Especially given that I only have a week and a half left here). Had 2.5 on the plate, got in 1:45 with 75 min SST, with the last 12 minutes in the parking lot to avoid getting hit cause it was dark. Even at 7:15-9PM it was still brutally hot.

Got in a solid 200 TSS in 2 hours from P123 in the first race of the Georgia Gran Prix last night.
I think 30mins z1 sounds good tonight.

I've decided to go for it for real, so I'm strapping on the HRM for training now. I'd like to make a real effort.
Anyway, I went out Tuesday to do some tempo riding. I figured I would get an hour and a half in. Turned out, the route I chose is more like 2 hours. Whoops. As I kind of expected, I've probably been going out too strong on my training rides and finishing too slow. It was very difficult to hold my HR in my tempo zone for the last 30-45 minutes of the ride when I wasn't climbing. Now to just do a bunch more like that in the coming weeks, longer stuff, too.
Yesterday was a crit. Turns out max HR is at least 200! Heh. I'm going to try and get some more time in this evening, and build up to some legitimately decent training volume in the next month. 8-10 hours would be a good starting point, and see how it goes from there.

Get down here you punk and I'll teach you a lesson or 2 about experience over youth
We have a route that we ride that is beautiful and a real test. Laid out perfect with a store to grab water every hour if need be and a ton of up and down. It's great. Maybe I'll map it and send it to you.

You'll have to wait until my kids come back that you and my son can play Call of Duty on the big screen (7' screen on a digital projector hooked up to an enormous stereo - you would think there really was a war going on).
Don't worry we would give you a chore list...
I'll get my teammate that did L'Abitibi to come out as well

Wow, just wow... You do crack me up. Nobody wants to be around her right now, she's getting ready for a state figure show and been dieting for a while.

okay let me get this straight:
COD on a huge projector scene with the son of rkwaki (im assuming hes similar to you..??>>?>?)
Race around with you and your teammate
get free food (is ur wife from the south or is she canadian as well??? if shes from the south and can cook, im never leaving).
Chores are a minus, but i can occasionally be useful.

My wife is from England but is an amazing cook - she is a figure competitor so we eat pretty healthy. Problem is you would have too many images for your spankbank.
I rarely drive to rides, we simply leave from my house and have about a 20 minute warmup before the hills start.
Life is good.

Life is rough in my house. My son is 17 (18 in March) and he and his buddies play that damn game by the hour to the point that the volume shakes the house. Oh and my son has a great sense of humor though he is a knucklehead like dad.

I wish, after my races this past weekend I know for sure my FTP doesn't need an increase.
It was just a NP buster course. A few short, but super steep punchy climbs. Do those 20+ times, and your NP is skyrocketed.

Would love, but making the drive at that time of morning is a bit off-putting. But maybe I'll try and do it sometime soon. And thanks! I actually got pulled from that race and given a place, but that was after a big drive to help the guys with 6 to go.

Understood. We figured if we were out and back early enough on Sundays there wouldn't be much traffic, weather was still relatively cool and the wives wouldn't say we wasted the day.

That sounds about as much fun as a spare hemorrhoid.
-------------------------------------------------
I've felt pretty low energy since I got back from last weekend's work trip, but I was ready to go today. On the CX bike today, so no power numbers, but I did have 3:40 of zone 4 HR and 32:53 of zone 5 HR. I faded a little at the end and mashed my crotch into the toptube/headtube junction at one point dropping into a sand pit. Never crashed, though, so that's a positive.
