One more step...
I know it's late in the season, but it looks like my wife and I have hooked up with a coach. We've both been focusing a bit more on racing this year with a few local club road races and a lot of TT's. We've tried our best to train in a structured manner, but always knew a coach was the next logical step.
We kind of lucked out by running into this guy on our way out of town on one of our typical long distance rides. We started chatting away as we did a local not so steep climb. It turned out that my wife knew his wife, a former Canadian national cycling team member, and he asked us to join him on the group ride he was going to.
We had fun on the ride and continue to ride with the group over the next month. The whole time he was offering advice and pointers to improve our fit and performance. He also started talking to my wife about coaching her since the women's field in Ontario is so wide open.
All I know is that we have both seen some improvement in the last few weeks and I actually beat my personal best 15km TT time by almost 90secs. That time was on a different course, a faster course, but still most riders were better by 45secs max...So I know there is some improvement there...
For now I think we'll be looking at the Provincial TT in a few weeks and see where things go next year...
Never thought I'd be racing, but it's nice riding with some goals and structure as apposed to just out there churning out the km's...
