I started doing Hatha yoga back in 88. Have been doing it on/off ever since and added a few other things to it.
Not sure if I can add much except I do a lot of breath control exercises during the poses. When I am feeling good I do it every day in the morning, sometimes for over an hour.
I have never considered it "training" and therefore is not part of my weekly hours calculation.
I cannot speak to the efficacy of it for core strength since I don't know how my core compares to athletes (I have spent the past 30+ years playing a brass instrument and that has done weird things to my midsection)
in regards to cycling, the only thing I can say for sure is that I feel better on days following a hard effort if I do yoga before riding again. Perhaps it is stretching. Perhaps it is breathing. I don't really know for sure.
