Physically hard. I was under attack from the get go, and most moves had someone in it that was a threat to GC. My team worked hard, but there were several guys I couldn't leave to chance and had to cover. That last break went 5 laps, right between another move, and then a move before that, and so on.

I'm in the light blue / dark blue shorts with 'hint' on the butt, green Cannondale.

You can see that I'm soft pedaling and such, even when I'm on Kevin Y's wheel going into the sprint. In that particular sprint I overgeared when I jumped, going in a 53x12 but thinking it was a 53x13 (I intentionally fitted a 12-x cassette instead of an 11-x cassette so I wouldn't overgear in the sprint). I was also racing on a particular front wheel for the first time, a 14 year old 24H Zipp 440 rim I just rebuilt into a front wheel. It flexed a lot more than I realized and I couldn't hold my line when I jumped - every pedal stroke the front wheel went sideways until I had to ease up on the pedals so I didn't hit the curb. By 7:01-7:02 I was already further left than I wanted to be. I didn't want to be on the curb, that's for sure. Whatever, the sprint was the sprint.
CDR, thanks! Shovel said you are a master at this, and you are. I've been engrossed in Sea Otter and the aftermath, otherwise I'd have thanked you sooner.

Gsteinb - congratulations!!! Well deserved.

some video from the WCCC Conference Crit at UC Davis this past weekend. only got the first couple laps on video before my camera crapped out =/ still pretty cool though

race didn't go too well for me. rolled my tubular on the second to last corner about half way through, got back in but it was super hot and i wound up with terrible cramps. pack finish, but my teammate took 2nd and secured our team qualification for collegiate nationals, so I'm going to ogden utah next week =)

Looked like a huge group ride up until the end when it cut off.. right when it looked like things were getting interesting. Was that the finish?

Here's footage of the dirt section of "The Koppenberg" circuit race outside of Boulder. Since my race strategy consisted of hanging on to the back of the dwindling group as long as I could, I'll admit it doesn't make for the most exciting racing. I thought I'd go ahead and post it, though, for anyone that's thinking about racing it next year and wants to check out the course. I don't know if it's always this way, but it was effing hard from the gun, but also a great event.

that was me on the tail end of the front main group, still a good number of riders behind me. it cut off at the end of the first of 3 laps around the resevoir and then a descent down the mountain pass into Ogden and then through Ogden back through north Ogden pass and then descent and flat couple miles to the finish. 78 miles total, 3 hours 3 minutes.

Last couple corners of Golden State Crit last Saturday. Got top 10, I think 50+ were in the field. The field was very competitive. So no upgrade points. I need to figure out better way to mount my contour, it's very shaky on the handle bar.

zitter, it's a bummer you didn't get any of the feedzone crash - I noticed myself in there a few times (157), and I was hoping that if you were in a similar position to me, I could get a better idea of what the hell actually happened. If you did get any of that footage, please post, or send it to me. I'm curious...

To get others up to speed: big crash in the last time through feedzone, before descent into Ogden. I got taken out, along with several others. I have no idea what caused it (I stayed to the left to 'avoid' feedzone carnage, go figure), but next thing I knew riders were toppling in front of me. Seems like it started in front of me, to the right and then seemed to fan towards the left a bit... I can hazard a guess that others were actively trying to move left for the same reason, and ran out of room.

In either case, I landed pretty hard and skittered about 15 ft from where my bike ended up. I am ok, minus a little road rash and a bruise or two. Pretty tame injuries, actually. Bike is ok, minus a toast front wheel. Wheel was only an EA90, so I'm not TOO torn about that. Was able to get a new front wheel and get back going, but by the time I got back going, there was no way I was catching back on. Right side hurt pretty bad, so I called it a day and looped back to the start/finish to hang with other teammates and await the finishers. :/

one of my teammates went down in that crash, I was a little bit back from it and had to ride through the carnage and chase hard to get back on (also wanted to check to make sure my guy was ok, he just yelled at me to ride on after I yelled out for him so he wasn't hurt too badly). he said a rider tried to snag a bottle, missed, and tried to still reach it last second and wound up crashing. I was closer to the back so I could grab two bottles since one of my teammates had missed his. my teammate who crashed was pretty pissed since his left shifter got destroyed and shimano neutral support jetted off before he could get a spare bike so his race was over

sorry, all I have is the first lap. my GoPro died =/ my other teammate who also had his on lost his because his mounted exploded when he hit a bump so GoPro is sending him a new one for free because he couldn't find it afterwards
